FAQ
STILL HAVE SOME MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT PAVERS?
Do you still have some more questions about pavers that you just have to find the answers to? Below are our most frequently asked questions. You may find you and others think alike! And if your questions are still unanswered by the end of our FAQ, give us a call and one of our team members will have your answers in no time.
Q: What are the different paver types that I can use?
A: As we’ve gone in depth about before, the top two paver types are concrete and brick. There are others, such as rubber, granite, limestone, and more. But these are the most cost-effective, versatile, and durable pavers on the market. So if you think pavers are the right route for your next home project, we recommend choosing one of these two.
Q: I want a (insert color here) driveway. Can I do that with pavers?
A: Depends on the color. If you want a red, orange, or brown driveway then that can be easily accomplished with brick pavers. They naturally come in those colors, so there’s no extra work needed. If, however, you’re looking for purple, blue, or some other color of the rainbow, then concrete pavers will be your best bet. They can be painted, tinted, or colored just like regular concrete so we can make them into almost any whimsical color your heart desires.
Q: If I’m on a budget, should I choose brick or concrete paving stones?
A: Concrete pavers for a 500 square foot area could cost you between $6,000 and $7,500. Brick pavers for the same sized space would cost between $7,500 and $18,000. While the actual final cost could be lower or higher for either depending on how you want the pavers laid and the exact pavers themselves, it’s clear to see that concrete pavers are a cheaper option. So if you’re tight on a budget, you might want to go the concrete route.
Q: How long after having pavers installed do I have to wait to walk on them?
A: No time at all. Unlike concrete or other poured materials, pavers are already hardened before they’re installed at your home. So as soon as the technician has left, you’re free to walk or drive your car on them unless the technician has said otherwise. One scenario where you might have to wait is if you have your pavers sealed, which we highly recommend. Sealing pavers protects them, locks in colors and designs, and helps your pavers enjoy a longer lifespan. If you do choose to seal your pavers, you have to wait for the sealant to fully dry. Generally, sealed pavers can be walked on within the day and driven over within 48 hours.
Q: Can I have pavers on a driveway?
A: Absolutely! Driveways are actually one of the popular places to use pavers. Because they are so strong and durable, they can hold up under the weight of a car or two or three. And brick pavers especially won’t look horrible when worn down by foot traffic. If you’re looking to install a new driveway and you want some added curb appeal at the same time, then pavers are a great choice.
Q: Can I have pavers around the pool?
A: Of course! While pool deck options are wide and varied, pavers remain a timeless option. They add a luxurious feel to any pool and won’t wear down from constant exposure to sun or feet running in for a cannonball. They also don’t become very slippery when wet, making them a safe choice as well as a visually appealing one.
Q: How do I ensure that my paved surfaces won’t move or shift over time?
A: This is a common concern with pavers that we hear concerned customers voice all the time. Because pavers are installed individually and not poured as one cohesive piece, it is possible for them to shift. Everything from water to weeds to soil shifts can affect the layout of pavers. There is a simple way to help combat this effect though. If we also install an edge to the paver patio, pool deck, or driveway, it can help keep the pavers in place. The edge can be made of a wide variety of materials, so ask one of our knowledgeable technicians what they recommend for your specific project.
Q: What if a paver cracks or is damaged?
A: Pavers are highly resistant to damage, including cracks or breaks. But, on the off chance that one does crack, there’s no need to panic. Since pavers are individual pieces that are laid down in a pattern, they are easy to repair. Because you can simply remove one, or however many are damaged, and replace them and only them. Individual pavers are not expensive on their own, so that makes repairs affordable and simple.
